H is for Hawaii – Kua’Aina

img_3567.jpgI feel terrible about taking so long to write this post – when Charlotte, Jo and I went to Kua’Aina for our H instalment of Alphabet Adventures, Charlotte was barely pregnant with her second child (Evie is now a couple of months old!) and I didn’t have any notions of getting pregnant myself (I am now six months gone!). But finally I am back on it, and hoping that we manage to squeeze in another few adventures before I pop.

We went to the Goodge Street branch of Kua’Aina for our Hawaiian dinner, and unusually all of us decided to order the same thing as we were tempted by the Mahi-mahi fish burger with cheese, served with sweet potato fries (although Jo picked some chilli cheese fries to have with her burger).

Jo’s chilli cheese fries:

I had expected my fish to be breadcrumbed, so was at first a bit disappointed that it wasn’t, but the fish was deliciously succulent and flavourful (I’d say it’s close to swordfish in terms of texture) and went perfectly with the layer of cheese.

My fries were crispy and not at all greasy – perfect with the burger and pickles.

We couldn’t resist pancakes for pudding and I tried the chocolate chip ones (probably a bit too chocolatey and could have done with a lighter sauce or cream as they were a bit dry):

Jo went for banana pancakes with maple syrup which she thoroughly enjoyed:

Thanks to the girls for a lovely evening as always, and sorry it took me so long to put ‘pen to paper’ (so to speak).
